Kene Isi’s route to becoming a health practitioner could have been established the moment he was born. He wasn’t breathing, and, just after doctors and nurses struggled for 9 minutes to preserve him, his father ran in and calmly equipped a mask about his son’s confront.

His parents named him Kenechukwu, which in the family’s native Igbo language of Eastern Nigeria implies “thank God.”
